Best Dental Insurance With No Annual Maximum Benefit

MetLife has the best dental insurance plans with no annual maximum benefit, according to Investopedia research. We found it off💝ers the lowest premiums and the best coverage for expensive services classified as “major dental care.”

An “澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:annual maximum benefit” is the maximum the insurance compꦍany will🍬 pay for covered care during the plan year. It may also be called a coverage limit or benefit cap.

Finding comprehensive dental insurance without an annual maximum can be challenging, but a few companies offer such plans. We researched six plans that cover preventive care (annual cleanings, 🔯for example), basic care (such as fillings and extractions), and major care (including crowns and implants). We made🐷 our picks based on criteria that include plan cost, coverage, and customer satisfaction.

Pros & Cons
Pros
  • Most affordable premiums

  • Best coverage for major dental services

  • Generous preventive care coverage

Cons
  • Higher copays for “basic” care

Overview

MetLife’s average premium is the lowest we found out of the six plans we reviewed in the two locations where we gatꦿhered quotes (Los Angeles and El Paso, Texas).

Most dental insurance policies with no annual maximum are 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:HM🌠O (health maintenance organization) plans with no 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:waiting periods for services and no 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:deductibles, but you will need to make a copay for most services you receive. MetLife offers two such plans, D𓄧HMO - Low and DHMO - High. DHMO - Low has a lower premium and higher copays than the other plan.

However, even with the DHMO - Low, MetLife categorizes many services as preventive and charges a $0 copay for oral exams, bitewing and full-mouth X-rays, and flu🔜oride treatments. The copay for cleanings is only▨ $20.

Copays for major care are also attractive. Prices𓃲 range from $350 for a crown to $525 for a 🐼complete set of dentures—about one-fourth of the average cost without insurance.

However MetLife’s coverage for basic care, such as fillings, requires you to pay more out of pocket than man🌳y other insurers we reviewed. Also note that the DHMO - Low plan is only available to individuals in four states: California, Florida, New York, and Texas. Check your state for availaꦐble plans there.

MetLife also offers individual ♏澳洲幸运5开ꦕ奖号码历史查询:PPO (preferred provider organization) plans nationwide and through the NCD by MetLife program, buᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚt those pl🦹ans do have maximum benefit caps.

Physicians Mutual

Physicians Mutual

  • Avg. Premium for Sample Plan: $31
  • Avg. Coverage for Major Care (Sample Plan): 25%
  • Company’s National Availability: 42 states and D.C.
Why We Chose It

Among the few 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:PPO plans that have no annual maximum, Physicians Mutual’s stand out for covering major care in addition to preventive and basic, and for offering the best coverage for pre♑ventive services.

Pros & Cons
Pros
  • Best prꦫeventive care coverage in a no-annual maximum PPO

  • Covers major care

Cons
  • Muc꧃h higher premiuꦰms than other no-annual-max PPOs and HMOs

  • Major care coverage percentage is low

  • 12-month waiting period for major coverage

Overview

If you’re looking for a PPO plan with no annual maximum benefit, you may want to consider Physicians Mutual. PPOs typically have larger networks than HMOs and allow you more flexibility to choose a provider, but their premiums are higher. Very few of them offer covera💫ge with no annual maximum.

Physicians Mutual’s lowest-priced no-annual-max plan in the ZIP🅠 codes we surveyed is called the Economy plan. It covers 100% of in-network preventive care, which includes a wide range of services such as cleanings, fluoride, and space maintainers. The plan has no deductible, so your coverage can begin right away.

The plan also stands out because it covers major care, but only 25% of costs and only after a 12-month waiting period. That seems stingy compared to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best PPO dental plans with annual coverage limits, but it’s rare to find any PPO with no annual maximu𝄹m that covers major care. Other Physicians Mutual PPOs offer more extensive coverage, but their premiums are even higher than the already-high Economy plan’s.

Physicians Mutual was founded in 1902 to provide health insurance to doctors and surgeons. It has since expanded into other areas, including life insurance and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Medicare Supplement plans.

The company is based in Omaha, Nebraska.

Investopedia staff editors and researchers pore over data from insurance providers and other credible sources to provide objective, comprehensive reviews and analysis. For the list of the best dental insurance companies with no annual maximum, we considered six plans and 34 criteria that are important whജen choosing a dental insurance policy. Afterඣ collecting 204 data points related to premiums, waiting periods, coverage amounts, deductibles, and much more, we scored and weighted the data to determine the best providers.

🗹How We Chose the Best Dental Insurance Companies With No꧅ Annual Maximum

Investopedia’s process for finding the best providers starts with narrowing the field of compan𒊎ies to consider. For that, we combed through business and industry data about market share and trends and tappe🐻d Google reviews to understand consumer sentiment about the industry and specific insurers. We did not consider plans that have to be bought with health insurance through a state or federal marketplace.

This analysis narrowed our focus to five key comp🧸anies offering six dental plans with no annual maximum for preventive, basic, and major care to individuals. While most of these plans are HMOs, two are PPOs, and we included one on this list for people who prefer to choose from a wider network of dentists.

We collected data from the National Assoc♐iation of Insurance Commissio🃏ners (NAIC), a regulatory support organization that maintains a database of customer complaints. We also gathered data directly from companies via websites, media contact𝔉s, and existing partnerships. The data collection process took place between Oct. 9, 2023 and Dec. 23, 2023.

We then developed a quantitative model that scored each dental insurance provider bℱased on 34 criteria that fall into six major categories and are crucial in evaluating the company’s offerings and benefits. We weighted the five categories as follows for this article:

  • Coverage: 50%
  • Cost: 25%
  • Customer Satisfaction: 10%
  • Plan Availability: 10%
  • Customer Service Features: 5%
  • State Availability: 5%
