Amrut Deshmukh has five years of experience in investment and asset management, as well as trading (technical and quantitative analysis). Amrut was a research analyst for Investopedia's investing team from August 2023 to December 2024.

Before joining Investopedia, Amrut worked in finance as a Finance & Trading Assistant at a Chartered Accountant & Brokerage firm in Mumbai, India, performing quantitative technical analysis for the firm’s proprietary trading desk. Amrut then went ahead and started his own investment management, hedging and trading company, wher✱e he utilized his algorithms knowledge to develop stock screeners and scanners, uncovering undervalued stocks for Long/Short Equity, Merger Arbitrage, and Volatility Arbitrage strategies.

By conductiꦿng comprehensive research on 2000 global public companies, Amrut identified investment opportunities for Fund of Funds and Smart Beta strategies. Managing 40 client portfolios, he designed Multi-Asset Strategies, focusing on Asset Allocation, High-Frequency Trading (HFT), and maximizing capital appreciation. His expertise extends to Dark Pool Trading, Block Trading, Program Trading, Statistical Arbitrage, Pairs Trading, Front Running, Market Making, Index Arbitrage, Scalping, and Momentum Trading.

Education

Amrut holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Bangalore, where he also served as the president of the Finance & Trading club. Subsequently, he received his MS in Finance from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University in New York, where he was honored with the Dean's Scholarship for the academic year 2022-2023.

Amrut holds various certifications, including Chartered Market Technician (CMT) Level 1 Candidate, Bloomberg Market Concepts, Bloomberg, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Certification, and the MITx Derivatives Markets: Advanced Modeling and Strategies.
